Brokeback Mountain...Who is gonna see it???

Its getting alot of awards and just picked up 8 Academy nominations. Not sure its premiered at a local theater yet.

if any movie has a combination of the word gay, cowboy, and sex then im not going to see it.

I went to see it the other day. I wanted to see how good it was since it got nominated for best picture and Walk the Line didn't. I wanted to see if it got nominated for being a good movie or for being a controversial movie. All in all- its an interesting movie, and I think it deserves to be nominated. Also, Heath Ledger does an amazing job acting in it.

Neither will I. I was so disappointed with American Beauty, which was Best Picture one year, that I give very little credence to what the Academy votes for. The only one they've hit on the nose in the last few years was The Unforgiven.

American Beauty was a great movie, name one other movie that year that was better. You see its not your "favortie" movies that when best picture. I can watch Old School over and over, but its not winning any awards, and for good reason. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Maybe it was the subject matter that turned you off to American Beauty, but the only thing you have to do, if you cant relate to that movie, is to pop into the Mens Club forum and see how most of us men reach official perv status.

Walk the Line was a very good movie, but I doubt in ANY year it would win Best Picture, even though the performances in the movie by the two lead actors were amazing. They should be rewarded.

Only thing about Walk the line is that Pheonix guy looks like he is imitating Elvis with the lip curl. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] I havnt watched the movie yet but plan on it.

As for Brokeback Mtn. I will not be viewing this movie. Its just not me.
